1964 Olivetti-Underwood Studio 44
Up for sale is an Olivetti-Underwood Studio 44 which was manufactured in 1964 in Barcelona, Spain. This Studio 44 was made after Olivetti bought a controlling interest in Underwood and subsequently merged, hence the Olivetti-Underwood branding while having no Underwood aesthetics or inner workings. This machine is larger than most portables, and is rather deep (from front to rear of machine) however it is an excellent workhorse. Because of its size and weight, this would not be the ideal candidate to travel with, however it is a great machine to treat as a small desktop that conveniently has a carrying case. The carrying case is also quite large, but is in great condition aside from some wear inside the case.
This typewriter writes in the standard pica typeface (10 characters per inch.)
This Studio 44 is in excellent shape all around, with very little cosmetic wear. Mechanically, this machine is in perfect shape and is fully functional right down to the bell. Its large size helps make this machine an excellent typer that can be depended upon for many years to come.
Universal ribbons which are sold on this website fit this machine perfectly, making it easy to keep this machine running for years to come. The owner's manual for this machine can be downloaded for free here: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/olivettistudio44.pdf
