1972 Hermes 10 (Hebrew)
Up for sale is a Hermes 10 electric typewriter which was made in Switzerland in 1972. This typewriter has an extremely rare Hebrew keyboard. Amazingly, this typewriter still has its original shipping box and packing Styrofoam, which probably has something to do with how this typewriter is in the great condition it is in. Also included is the owner's manual, cleaning kit, and two circular metal plates with bolts that are used to secure the typewriter to the bottom Styrofoam piece for shipping.
As for condition, this typewriter is in really good shape overall, but it's not perfect. The plastic body underneath the ribbon cover has a crack on either side from the screws being over tightened, however the plastic still seems to be tough near the areas and is not compromised too badly to where it would need to be repaired for any other reason than for cosmetics. See pictures 7 and 8 for each of the cracks. Besides that, this typewriter has only one small speckle of rust above what would be the equivalent of the "N" key on the English keyboard. Other than that, it's essentially perfect cosmetically and is very clean and well-kept.
Mechanically, this typewriter is in perfect working condition and is fully functional. The main rubber motor belt on this typewriter was freshly replaced, so this machine is ready to go for another few decades at the very least! This typewriter would be a perfect workhorse for anyone needing a Hebrew typewriter. In fact, it's probably the best Hebrew typewriter for actual reliable use on the market anywhere because there really aren't many other options out there. The carriage on this machine of course operates in reverse from a standard English machine to account for how the Hebrew language is written.
Universal ribbons (sold on this site) fit this typewriter perfectly and are a breeze to install, so this typewriter is extremely easy to keep operating for years to come.
The original shipping box measures roughly 20"x22"x10", and so I will be shipping this machine in a box that will be slightly larger than these dimensions to help preserve the original box to some extent. As such, the additional shipping costs associated with such a large box have been already added on to the base price of the typewriter.
