1967 Royal Royalite
Up for sale is a Royal Royalite which was manufactured in Holland in 1967. This typewriter is a great little budget machine and an ultraportable that was Royal McBee's last model before they went on to purchase Triumph/Adler and manufactured those style of machines, which in my opinion were actually superior. That being said, this is still a great lightweight machine that can be used reliably. Condition-wise, this typewriter is in near mint shape overall and is fully functional down to the bell. While this typewriter can definitely stand up to heavy and frequent use, I think you will find after awhile of writing on this machine that it's not the best to use for long periods of time and so I don't think this would be on my list of machines to recommend for writing things such as a novel on. The touch that is needed to get a consistent print on paper is rather heavy and snappy, and so it becomes a bit tiring over time especially if you have been spoiled with a higher quality typewriter.
However, this typewriter is very much an easy model to use and care for. Universal ribbons which are sold on this site fit this machine perfectly. The owner's manual is included with this machine, and has some handy information written on the back. This typewriter was purchased 11-27-1967 and opened on Christmas Day of 1967 as a gift.
To sum everything up- this typewriter would make an excellent budget machine to write letters or handle any smaller writing tasks, however I would not recommend buying this machine if you intend to use it for heavy workloads such as writing a novel because of its ergonomics.
