1962 Hermes 3000
Up for sale is one of the most sought after machines among typewriter enthusiasts and writers alike- the Swiss-made Hermes 3000. This one was manufactured in 1962, and has a Spanish keyboard. A rather comprehensive review on this model can be read here: https://typewriterreview.com/2013/06/18/hermes-3000/
To sum everything up about the Hermes 3000- it's one of the most incredible portable typewriters ever designed in all aspects. The features, ultra smooth mechanics, and striking body design were extremely ahead of its time. As such, this machine was an extreme hit among those who can afford it, including today. It remains one of the most popular machines among many known names, including Tom Hanks.
This particular 3000 is in excellent shape, with only a small handful of small cosmetic flaws. The paint on this machine is nearly perfect (especially for its age), and the chrome parts are all shiny like new. The carrying case is also in remarkable condition and comes with the key. The only thing that goes against this machine is that the platen has some evidence of aging, and could probably be re-covered in a few more years if it's used heavily- otherwise it shouldn't be too much of a concern for awhile yet since the typewriter still performs as if the platen is new.
This typewriter uses universal ribbons sold on this site, and the owner's manual can be accessed for free here: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/Hermes3000-Media3_Manual.pdf
If you're a writer looking for one of the best portable workhorses ever made, then this is my highest recommendation for you as long as you can appreciate everything about the Hermes 3000, including the resulting price for all its glory.
