Up for sale is a Remington Deluxe Noiseless which was manufactured in 1941- just before Remington shifted a lot of production into the war effort. This typewriter is a beautiful machine in excellent condition all around. Cosmetically, this typewriter is in near mint shape aside from some evidence of wear on the labels on the rear body of the machine. Mechanically, this typewriter is also perfect, and is fully functional right down to the bell. It can definitely be used heavily, but this would not be my first choice for something like writing a novel- although it could certainly be done on this machine! The rubber on this machine is in great shape, except for the feet that have some evidence of aging and could probably be replaced if you really want to make this machine perfect. Keep in mind that this is a “noiseless machine,” and although not completely noiseless as it was originally advertised, it does sound very much different than normal typewriters. A demonstration for this model can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5j-j1j5i7w (keep in mind that it is not this particular typewriter that is being offered for sale)

The owner's manual for this machine is shared with a few other Remington portables of the era, and can be downloaded here: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/RemPort1940.pdf

The case is a bit worn, but it’s still in decent shape and does its job perfectly as it should.

Universal ribbons will in fact fit this machine, however note that the plastic "core" of the universal spools needs to be punched out or otherwise removed so that the new spools will fit inside the typewriter. Also included will be an old ribbon with the original metal rings if you wish to thread the new ribbon into the spindles inside the typewriter instead of utilizing the new spools. Also keep in mind that the original full plastic spool covers are missing, but are functionally replaced by the metal spool covers seen in the pictures.

If you're looking for a noiseless portable that still can be used frequently and as heavily as you wish to use it, then this is a great machine for you!
