1929 Royal Model P
Up for sale is an absolutely beautiful Royal Model P in red which was made in 1929. The original red paint is in good shape overall, with only a couple notable scuffs as visible in the photos. It is truly rare to find a red model P in this good of shape, and so this typewriter is an extremely collectible and valuable machine. This typewriter also has an extremely rare scientific or math keyboard, which I have never seen on this model before.
The labels on the rear of the machine are surprisingly crisp and all in-tact. The typewriter is fully functional in all aspects, and can definitely still be used heavily and reliably despite its age, although there may be better options if you're looking to write something like a novel- unless you are strictly looking for a machine that was made prior to WWII. Universal ribbons fit this typewriter perfectly, and the owner's manual can be downloaded for free here: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/RoyalP1926.pdf
Because the spools are fully exposed and visible, I will be including the original metal spools if you wish to take the time to re-thread the metal spools with the fresh ribbon that is currently installed, or the next ribbon when the time comes.
The carrying case is in surprisingly good condition, although the leather carrying handle is missing. Considering this typewriter is only 8 years away from being 100 years old, everything is in quite impressive condition. The platen and feed rollers seem to be fresh and were likely replaced or re-covered in the last decade or so. The rubber feet on the base do show some evidence of wear and could probably be replaced as desired- but they are certainly not in terrible shape.
If you're looking for a beautiful late '20s machine in an eye-catching red that can still be used frequently and reliably, then this is an impressive option.
