1900 Blickensderfer No. 7
Up for sale is a nice Blickensderfer No. 7 which was made in Stamford, CT in 1900. This typewriter has been in my collection for quite a few years now, and would make a great addition to any typewriter collection of nearly any size or magnitude. This typewriter is not expected to function, and so is largely just for collection or decoration purposes. The type element does not seem to want to rotate to the correct character when the keys are pressed, however the element does move downwards towards the platen when the keys are pressed. The CAPS and FIG keys seem to be frozen, and I have not invested any time into fixing this. The spacebar does advance the carriage properly, the carriage moves freely when released, and even the carriage return lever operates properly- so this typewriter is not a complete lost cause in any way in terms of functionality- it's just not a machine that makes sense to write with.
This typewriter does also come with the original wood lid which latches on both sides to the base. It is unfortunately missing the leather carrying handle, but that is most often long gone on these machines.
If you're looking to add a really awesome piece of typewriter history to your collection, then this would be a great one that has long been in my own.
