1947 Smith-Corona Sterling (4A Series)
Up for sale is a classic Smith-Corona Sterling (4A-Series) which was manufactured in 1947 in the USA. The 4A-Series was produced after Smith-Corona resumed typewriter manufacturing after the end of WWII, but kept the same overall design of it's pre-war 3A predecessor. This typewriter is in excellent shape both cosmetically and especially mechanically. Overall, the paint has very few flaws especially for its age. The metal and chrome is in great shape, and shines like a mirror. There's only a small spot of discoloration (which almost looks like white-out) on the left side of the paper table. This is pictured clearly after the photo of the serial number. Mechanically, this typewriter is in perfect shape, and is fully functional right down to the bell. Despite being from 1947, this typewriter is an extremely smooth and reliable workhorse of a typewriter, and can definitely be used heavily without any trouble. Also included is the original key for the case, and an old eraser and brush which came with this machine.
This typewriter also uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site, and the owner's manual can be downloaded for free here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/SmithCoronaFloatingShift1949.pdf
If you're looking for a beautiful, classic typewriter that still can be used heavily and frequently as you wish, then this is a perfect choice!
