1961 Olympia SM7
Up for sale is a trusty Olympia SM7 which was made in Western Germany in 1961. This typewriter lives up to the excellent reputation of Olympia typewriters, and is one of my highest recommendations for those looking to do some serious and heavy writing, such as a novel. This model is no exception, and is a smooth and reliable workhorse. This typewriter itself is in excellent shape all around and is fully functional right down to the bell. This typewriter has a standard 10-pitch typeface and is very clear and legible. Universal ribbons (which are sold on this site) fit this typewriter perfectly and are easy to install, so keeping this workhorse going for many years to come isn't a concern. The carrying case is also in decent shape for its age, with just some cosmetic flaws including a small crack in the center of the handle and some of the covering material on the base of the case coming slightly-unglued in a few spots. The handle is still structurally sound, since the plastic that is cracked is only a cover.
The owners manual for this typewriter can be found here: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/OlympiaSM7.pdf
Once again, if you're in the market for a reliable workhorse of a typewriter that can be used heavily and reliably, then this is one of my best recommendations.
